MIA

Sorry its been a while since I've posted anything. Life has been a little hectic. I've spent the last two days doing QCS practise. Tuesday consisted of a 2 hour and 10 minute writing task and a 1 hour and 40 minute multiple choice exam. And today I did a 2 hour and 10 minute short response test and another 1 hour and 40 minute multiple choice exam. Best part of the day was the massive lunch break. I am definetly prepared for the real thing in two weeks time. Still have lots of assignments to do though so will probably continue being busy for the next few weeks. Say hello to very little social life.

In other news, my little brother turned 16 on Tuesday. He is convinced he is now a man. We'll see. Also am now officially playing keyboards at church. Played at youth and at church on Sunday and while it was a little freaky everyone said that I did a good job.

Coming up this week - Kelsie (my mum's gorgeous little God-daughter) is turning 5! Party time!! Kelsie's parties are always something special with lots of fun and yummy food. They must be good if a 17 year old can have fun at them. Then again I still act like a kid from time to time. Will post pictures later on this week.

Hope you're all having a good week.

Love Alexie.

blog this challenge

Challange 11 - What's on your bedside table?

What are you reading at the moment? What book can you not put down or just can't finish? Are you drawn to certain authors, genres or just what's in the bargain bin? Do you get books from a book exchange, library or are you beating the doors down at Dymocks on release day? Write all about the last book you read or the one you're reading/struggling to read!

Well I'm a bit of a bookworm so I always have several books on the go. I love all sorts but at the moment I'm loving re-reading the Harry Potters'. Nearly finished number 6 "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince". Can I just say how brilliant those books are? They draw you in and you just want to keep reading.

Other than that I'm working my way through Pride & Prejudice and Emma by the wonderful Jane Austen. Honestly, its taking me a while because I have to be in the right mood for olde english language - if you know what I mean.

Also, still trying to work my way through Lord of the Flies for english. I really hate it. The only reason I'm reading it is for class, definetly not by choice. So that one is taking me a loooooonnnnggg time.

My secret book obsession is corny christian romance novels. I have two boxes of them now and I pretty much adore them and all of their corniness. It's probably lame but there's nothing I can do about that. I pick them up for $10 for 10 at Koorong and read them whenever I feel the need.

mundubbera fun

So this weekend my family and I headed off to Mundubbera for the first ever Multi-cultural Festival. I'll try and sum it up in one sentence: a dirt strip with stalls, food and rides down both sides, plenty of entertainment and camel rides.

A few pictures...

The Mundubbera Multi-cultural festival in all its beautiful glory
(please note this is only a tiny bit of it behind me was a fair bit more)
Mum and I wearing our hideous Mundubbera hats - not so sexy but great for shade!

Aunty Nelle, Mum and I sharing the world's biggest Fairy Floss.

We ate Quail. Yes we did. Deep fried Quail to be precise.

Getting ready for our camel ride!!

These beasts are pretty tall just in case you didnt know.

Pretty dang stoked.

I did lots of new things this weekend:
1. Drove for an extended period of time at 100 km!!! (please note - I have not been the most enthusiastic learner up til now, this is big for me.)
2. Ate a Quail. You might remember from my 15 facts about me that I don't eat chicken so it was pretty interesting eating what was, lets face it, basically a mini chicken.
3. Rode a camel. Oh how I loved it. Definetly going to do it again.
4. Tuned a banjo. Which decided to turn on me, break a string and stab me. Thank you banjo.
5. Oh oh and I won a blog this challenge! Very exciting!!

Good weekend me thinks.

Marina's 17th!

From left to right, top to bottom

-Marina (the birthday girl) and I
-Cake time
-Danielle and I
-Danielle G, the mouse (duh)
- My best friend in the whole world
-The Gang
-Tayla doing (non-alcoholic of course) Jelly shots

Typical Marina party, we all had to dress up as something either magical or Alice in Wonderland-ish. I dressed as a tree spirit. Can't really see in the pictures but I had some lovely gold makeup all over my face. We had lots of fun running around like idiots, taking photos and playing silly games. I won pass-the-parcel, and ate waaaayyyyy to much food.
Oh how I love my friends.

blog this challenge

"I have a little recipe that isn't hard to make
But you must always start as soon as you awake.
Take a great big mixing bowl and fill it with a smile
Mix half a cup of sunshine with good deeds to last a while.
Add a pinch of work and play, a pinch of thoughtfulness and care
But don't bake it in the oven, just spread it around everywhere."

Ok, so it's a little corny but we all need a bit of silly sometimes! Challenge 10 at Blog This is to list the ingredients for your perfect day. What's your surefire receipe for a wonderful day?

My Perfect Day
1. Grab a good sleep in and place it in a bowl
2. Add a good quantity of lovely sunshine
3. Take some good friends and mix them in (family is a good substitute for friends, if friends are not in season)
4. Take a Grande Starbucks Frappacino and add it to the bowl
5. Some Mcleods Daughters (or Gilmore Girls) should be added around now
6. Don't forget some good music - it is very important to make this day perfect
7. Finally, an afternoon sun-shower followed by some dancing in the rain and jumping in puddles.

All in all, the perfect day.
